Impending Doom and Other Inconveniences was a wonderful way for me to fall into this world. I had this grand plan of creating a corner of the web and just doing what I’ve always wanted to do, which is to write stories. And I know the fact that it’s 2026 works against me. I should have started this blog a decade or two ago, when everyone seemed to be writing blog posts that ultimately became books, like 50 Shades of Grey and that Julia/Julie (or was it Julie/Julia?). But I am late to the party, which is unusual for me, as I’m normally ahead of the times. But in this particular case, the story is about me taking a chance on myself, and as you know, there is a lot more hesitation with that type of thing.

But I have made it, and I’m happy to report to you that Impending Doom is officially written up as the first tale of this world. It sits at a punchy 20.4K, which is a nice word count for an intro. I have another few storylines conjuring up in my mind, which I’ll offload on this site first, but before we do that, I thought it best to take a moment, have a cup of coffee, and enjoy the completion of the first tale. After all, the only deadline here is the one with myself. And, by Jove (isn’t that a great British saying? I’ve decided to bring it back), I think it’s a good moment to reflect on a great tale.

While there are a number of characters that will be following us to the next fable, there are some that we will be saying goodbye to. But maybe, because, after all, I’m the writer and can do anything I want, we might just stop in and say hi to Lydia, Bill, Rammi, and Dave one day soon.
